What! No uniforms at the Reunion?

Hey, does anyone have a photo of our other uniform? You know, the very "modern", updated style that we got in the later years! I'd sure love to see it.

How Funny! Who's body is that? Why is the head cut off? Was she in the Witness Protection Program?

That's my First Grade, first day of school photo. I was VERY proud of that new school bag. (Note the price tag was still on it.) The next year I was very excited to get a new hard-sided "briefcase". I didn't have it for more than a week when one day while coming home from school the bus went especially fast down the big hill in our neighborhood....I got sick and decided the best and only place to throw up was right into my brand new briefcase!

I know when we graduated from 8th grade we had a brown and white plaid looking skirt....we were able to wear white or yellow shirts with it....also we had a brown sleeveless vest that went with it....but I think we were able to wear knitted sleeveless vest with it also....I think Chris use to wear her famous brown knitted vest that she got from a relative (handmade I believe) in Italy? After she started wearing hers then everyone got into the knitted vest thing...you know she has always been a fashion type icon (probably got it from her mom who had a real knack for fashion...had her own store that had stuff you just couldn't find anywhere). Anyways....I dont know if we had a blue and white skirt also? Am I confusing that with Andrean?

Yes Deb you are confusing that with Andrean. We switched to the brown and yellow...and I do remember the crotched vests, etc. That little ugly brown vest was horrible...and remember when the girls rolled their waist bands of their skirts and got into trouble when sister Hawkeye decided to measure skirts lengths?

And you know what else, if there is someone out there who still has a BS uniform and can actually still fit in it....I propose they win a huge prize!!!

I went from 1st-12th at Catholic schools were uniforms were worn. The GOOD thing about it is that when the gals wore REAL clothes they looked 5 years older and SOOOOO FINE!!!!

Like, "You REALLY look like THAT???!!!"

Oh, well, I'm sure when David Rose wrote his famous 1960's instrumental hit, "The Stripper," he wasn't inspired by Catholic school girl uniforms!

By the way, I went to Noll 1961-1965, then taught there 1972-1973, and the girls seemed to have moved the boundary of how high they would "roll up" their uniform skirts to shocking degrees--when I walked into my old school to teach that year, the joint looked like a bunch of cheerleaders in cheerleader uniforms that looked suspiciously like Catholic school girl garb!

Holy cow guys, what is it with you and pleated skirts??
Those skirts put at least 12lbs on us.
It was fun to see everyone in street clothes and we sure did look different.

To this day I can't put a plaid skirt on with out thinking I look fat.
When I went to Ireland I bought an official kilt and put it on, then threw it back in the box and thought I'll make a wall hanging out of it some day.

Smile today someone might be looking and smile back at you. What a concept...

Not to wear your uniform was to face the wrath of Sr. Theodora, the principal. I remember her coming to my classroom on some mornings to search for possible violaters.
One day poor little Kathy S. was cornered as a scofflaw and marched off with physical assist from Sr. Theodora.
When returned to the classroom Kathy was a mess--not only the tears but sporting a very dirty and rumpled uniform a bit too small for her. I never had anyone come to school that year without proper attire.
It may be interesting to know that here in Puerto Rico even public schools have uniforms of various styles and colours from elementary to high school. Still, there seems to be little challenge to those in the high school crowd who sort of "modify" the uniform to make themselves more "presentable" if you know what I mean.

Honestly I thought that a uniform should be worn in all schools today. Yes there is always a way to alter the appearance and we tried every trick but there was no real difference.
Today everything in school is about a tag and a color.
It certainly made it easier as to what to wear in the morning.
Plaid or plaid...

I agree Beth, when we wore uniforms there was no deciding what to wear and no competition about who wore designer this and that...we were all the same when it came to dress...you know maybe it made us work on our personalities more and that was a good thing!!!
