Blessed Sacrament Reunion

Welcome...This blog site was created to provide a forum for Blessed Sacrament Alumni to reconnect and share memories. It's our hope that reliving the laughter and recalling the antics can bring us all back to a time when life was so much less complicated!

I've Located Mr. Vlasic!

Mr. Vlasic now lives in Puerto Rico! I acquired his address. I recently wrote him a letter and just received his reply. He said he certainly remembers our personalities and is looking forward to hearing from us! I will send him the BS Reunion Blog address so we can use this space to correspond and reminisce. If you'd like...post your comments for him here.
Stay tuned.....
3/27/08 We're connected...look for his comments listed under "Sunpup". Thinking he's getting a lot more of that sunshine in San Juan than we're experiencing here in lovely NW Indiana!

Chris read the letter to me yesterday from Mr. Vlasic and I found it very touching.
He remembered all of us with fondness and care.
He also reminded me of the prayer he would say after the afternoon prayer and for some reason I can see him saying this.

I can relate to the remembering thing because I have been a hair stylist so long that I am now doing hair for men and women who have children of there own coming to me.
And Chris has taught children that have parents that she went to school with.

My how time flys.

Hey Mr.Vlasic if you read our blog, thanks for the fun memories.

mr. vlasic, what a blast from the past! my parents we're gonna tranfer me out of B.S. after 5th grade because I was having such a problem with the nuns, but when we found out I was gonna have a male, lay teacher for 6th grade, I stuck it out. You were one of my favorite teachers, and you really were good at your job. You could wield a hell of a paddle too as
I also learned a couple of times! I also remember you taking 6 of us to Willow Slough for a camping trip and all of us squeezing in to your green mustang!! That was a fun weekend!! Hey Mr. Vlasic, we're neighbors!! I live in St. Thomas!! Let's have lunch!Len Cooke

Mr. Vlasic! (in case you read this)
Any chance that you can make it to the reunion? I know we'd all love to see you. We just had 9 inches of snow here last week, and I am very jealous that you (and Leonard) live in tropical paradise! Good for you! Take care and know that you had a wonderful impact in our lives!

Mr. V and Mr. Z were great teachers. I can't remember being bored or feeling intimidated by either one of them. I can't say that about the nuns. I do however remember a few swats from Mr. V. I had plenty of padding to absorb the energy, so they didn't hurt to bad.

Mr.Vlasic was a stickler for perfection and I guess that was a good thing since I was a day dreamer.
When I came to BS from St. Lukes down town Gary the culture shock was enough but to have a man for a teacher put me into over drive shock.

The nuns from St. Luke were demons compared to the nuns at BS.
Then the all white classes compared to 80% black at my other school just seemed like I was on another planet.

Mr. Vlasic made me comfortable from the very beginning.

All of you are SO kind, as I certainly hold many fond memories of my seven years at Blessed Sacrament. I also remember most of you quite well, and for a career in teaching with thousands of students that has to say something for the camaraderie we all established with one another. As we go along, I certainly welcome any questions and input you may have about those years, and I will add a few choice tidbits of my own that I am sure most of you do not know. Regarding the paddle--thank God those things have gone--but I rather think it was more intimidating than painful, as that's the way I thought I used it!
Anyone can contact me at maricao6901@yahoo.com, and, Len, my fellow islander, get in touch!

Hey Mr. Vlasic...
Since Len Cooke is coming to the reunion...we've decided the two of you should just carpool! Ü
