Blessed Sacrament Reunion
Welcome...This blog site was created to provide a forum for Blessed Sacrament Alumni to reconnect and share memories. It's our hope that reliving the laughter and recalling the antics can bring us all back to a time when life was so much less complicated!

Way to go Boys. I remember that like it was yesterday. The excitement after the game on the bus and lots of cheering. GO BRONKOS!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't we have an assembly in the cafeteria????
Beth
Actually, I thought this would get more interest than it did, but thanks anyway Beth Ann. Gary, eat your heart out.
What's with the Beth Ann? I haven't heard that name since Gary days.
Also since I've been getting the Memory pages in the mail, many from your class Brian Keith have had fond memories to tell.
Oh and didn't you say you would help me type them out, Brian Keith????
Beth A.
Brian...we new you guys would do well. We(the class of 70) taught you everything you needed to know. Sometimes you have to sacrifice for the benefit of others. Ha!
Brian...by the way didn't Rick Kraft (Coach Whalen's stepson)get redshirted for two years? He played on our team too. I think he drove you guys to the tournament, right?
Who can fill in the details of a fire alarm being pulled at an away basketball game?
And Zak don't you have a story about throwing eggs at parked cars(?) getting caught and telling the authorities that you did't have any parents?!?
Lets fill Blanche's gap on the fire alarm at the away basketball with bs. We were in Hammond In. playing somebody, and Zak and I just back back to the school from the police station over throwing eggs on new cars. It gets better. Once we got back, Zak put his hands on the fire alarm and said to me.....Hey Schwinn....How much to pull>>>>>>>> thats all I heard. Next thing I knew we were fileing out with the entire buiding. Yep. He pulled the damn thing. Game delay!! True story
Ok, so I guess my question is....
Which one of your kids Mark and Blanche turned out to be like Mark???
Beth
Oh Boy, there is no short answer to that question. Mark John definetly has his father's sense of humor, his reactions & mannerisms mirror Mark's sooo much that it is eerie. Both of my girls are 5'2" and tiny yet they have their fathers spunk!!!! Lisa Marie is most like me in that she would be very content to be a stay at home mom, taking care of the house and family, However she is a dynamo in the business world which she definetly gets from her father. But what you really want to know is who shakes things up the most and that would be hands down Renee, The Gade, (short for Renegade) The only difference between Renee and Mark is that Mark never got caught at any of his pranks whereas Renee was nabbed on a regular basis, mostly by me but we had our fair share of meetings with the authorities in blue. And fortunately it was always innocent things that in our youth would have gone unreported. We actually had to go to court over a TPing event!!!! Yet I will never forget going to the principals office one day because Renee, as a freshmen with a broken wrist, got into a knock down, drag out fight. I was mortified, and once we got to the car I immediately called Mark, expecting him to concur that fighting at school was not acceptable. I handed the phone to Renee and his first, most pressing statement was "did you kick her a--", and the next thing you know they are going over the details as if they were reviewing game tapes!!!!
As a side bar---- all 3 of my children, even my tiny daughters drink beer like their father, family vacations require seperate savings accounts to cover the beer tab! If the Schwinn's are coming over for beer and a movie you better have a keg!!!!
I'm sure we all have tales of our kids escapades. Today when they get caught it is always involving the authorities.
When I look at my kids and the trouble they have been in I am shocked.
Since I didn't drink in high school and hardly drink as an adult my kids drink like fishes.
I love a good party and watching is my entertainment, my kids are the party and everyone is watching them.
I never saw a court house until I had kids and I can't tell you how many times that is.
I say all the time "who are these kids?'" and then I remember my brothers and say " the apple didn't fall to far".
My son Ben is 26 and he is in heating and cooling in Colorado, very street smart and very black and white, there is no room for gray matter in his mind. I can't wait for him to have kids so I can share some stories with them.
My daughter Audrey is 23 and I still call her the wicked one. Unfortunately she has my mouth and the Settle temper but she has her fathers moods which can be a bad mix.
But she is the most loyal person I know and she got the care giving from me. She has a heart of gold if you need a friend.
And she is giving me a grand child in Oct. and I can't wait to hold a baby in my arms again.
So the song goes "Kids, what the matter with kids these days...."
Beth
